Raise Your Voice
Raise Your Voice is a campaign created in collaboration with Swansea Mad and Deryn. For the first time in Wales, young people aged 16 and 17 got to vote for the 2021 Senedd Election. It is important for us to encourage young people to raise their voice by voting for what matters for them.
We launched www.raiseyourvoice.wales, a dedicated space for young people so they can find out more about democracy in Wales, including how to vote, what the different political parties stand for and how politics affects their everyday lives.
In April, along with Swansea Mad and Deryn and with funding from the UK Democracy Fund,we hosted the Not Your Usual Digital Hustings event.
We were lucky enough to have RadioOne’s Steffan Powell host the event for us and be joined by five major parties: Fflur Elin -Plaid Cymru, Leena Sarah Farhat - Liberal Democrats, Anthony Slaughter - Green Party, Eluned Morgan - Labour, Abigail Mainon - Conservatives.
Young people from all over Wales submitted questions prior to and during the event, withsome joining the politicians on the virtual stage to ask questions personally.
